On-Site Design Review - Palmer, Alaska
The NHTI team of professional architects,
engineers, surveyors, CAD drafters/designers, and technical
support personnel is able to facilitate design services for
a variety of projects ranging from simple recurring design
and review to large multi-phase and complex, unique design
projects. NHTI engineers routinely
perform civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical design
services associated with buildings and telecommunications
infrastructure. Our typical project has an engineering design,
furnish and installation, turn-up and test requirement. Given
our diverse and varied capabilities, we have the qualifications
and professional licenses to handle any design project. NHTI
engineers integrate all requirements of the building systems
and the occupant load into a single design that accommodates
all needs. We operate our company and projects ensuring that
final design plans conform to customer requirements, comply
with federal, state, and local regulatory codes, meet accepted
industry standards, and conform to sound engineering practices.
The following are brief descriptions of our engineering department
capabilities.
Architecture
NHTI architects
blend code compliance and aesthetics with design requirements
into their final product. Our significant experience with
implementing rigorous telecom design standards and other demanding
industry requirements allows our team to produce a truly integrated
design product. Once a final design is approved, NHTI architects
follow through with construction management and customer interface.
Civil - Structure
NHTI professional
engineers are proficient in designing structures, foundation
systems, and site development plans. Projects include site
feasibility studies, new site design/development, master plans,
and tenant improvements/building renovations. A large percentage
of our designs are located in extreme environments. These
include high seismic activity zones, high wind and snow load
conditions, extreme temperature fluctuations, and difficult
or inaccessible terrain. Additionally, NHTI engineers benefit
from the experience and knowledge of our operations/construction
team since designs are reviewed during development to ensure
constructability.
Electrical
NHTI electrical
design experience includes design of new electrical power
systems as well as modification of existing power distribution
and service entrances, development of prime power facility
design (including hybrid systems), emergency back-up power
system design and upgrade, code compliance studies, plant
inspections, and feasibility studies. NHTI engineers have
years of practical experience with a full spectrum of power
system design and implementation for large, complex telecom
facilities demanding high reliability as well as small routine,
and cost effective systems for single and multi-site networks.
Power systems can range from simple radial distribution to
N+1 isolated redundant distribution with diverse entrances
including total facility UPS and/or inverter power with multiple
Digital Static Transfer Switches (DSTS).
Other components that our engineers are fluent
with include lighting systems, fire alarm, security, building
monitoring, special grounding systems, lightning protection,
telephone and LAN, fuel monitoring and alarm systems, fiber
optic entrances, and a wide array of other systems commonly
found in telecommunication and other commercial/ industrial
facilities.
Mechanical
NHTI capabilities
include comprehensive mechanical engineering and design services
for commercial, industrial and institutional projects. Our
staff has expertise in heating, ventilating and air conditioning,
plumbing, fuel storage, fire protection, and controls systems.
This design expertise includes plumbing calculations, heat
gain/heat loss calculations, piping layouts and sizing, and
air distribution system layout and sizing. Other services
offered include energy studies, value engineering, and life
cost analysis. Our typical project includes a requirement
for redundant systems necessary to effectively cool large,
high output communications equipment. We also specialize in
developing mechanical systems that will survive and perform
in extreme environmental conditions, where reliability is
critical.
Telecommunications
NHTI telecom engineers
provide a comprehensive and unique body of experience to our
design projects. Our staff is comprised of professional electrical
engineers, licensed electrical administrators, and registered
communication distribution designers (RCDD) with both inside
and outside certifications. New Horizons provides an integrated
approach to the design and implementation of communications
systems. Capabilities and experience include RF propagation
and path analysis for microwave, cellular, PCS and other wireless
systems, fiber optic design for cable plant, SONET systems,
and other optical network designs, satellite network design
for both gateway and VSAT installations, broadcast systems,
broadband and wireless broadband systems, and feasibility
studies and related design services for upgrades to existing
systems. Design experience is supported and supplemented by
long-term relationships with many equipment manufacturers
and suppliers.
Surveying and Geotechnical Analysis
NHTI survey teams
include registered land surveyors and assistants with survey
backgrounds and geotechnical analysis experience. Both conventional
and differential GPS surveys are conducted using equipment
that allows centimeter-minus accuracy. This ensures that clients
receive an accurate survey at a reasonable cost. Specialized
geotechnical equipment is used to facilitate sub-surface sampling
and analysis. NHTI has completed extensive soil analysis and
foundation solutions in over 200 remote locations throughout
Alaska and the Northwest.
Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD)
NHTI offers services
provided by CADD designers and technicians who operate state-of-the-art
CADD workstations fully loaded with the most powerful graphics
and design software available on the market. NHTI's CADD team
works closely with project managers and engineers to ensure
that all designs and drawings follow industry standards and
codes. Our technicians can also produce topographical, service
area, cover area, and system area maps for cellular, wireless,
and fiber optic projects. We are conversant in numerous government
industry proprietary standards for computer aided drafting
and design. NHTI can also adopt and learn new customer standards.
Our team can deliver state-of-the-art designs, drawings, and
maps for engineering projects of all types. We have the capabilities
and equipment to meet and exceed all customer needs.
Environmental
NHTI has the capability,
experience and resources available to achieve the goal of
hazardous waste assessment, investigation and cleanup. New
Horizons environmental restoration projects are successful
because we solicit and encourage early and continuous involvement
of customer and regulatory personnel. Our environmental department
has the resources, capabilities, and experience to conduct
all phases of environmental assessments, cleanups and restoration/revegetation
projects. We design specialized remediation systems including
bioremediation and groundwater treatment solutions. We also
develop plans for and perform fuel storage tank removals,
replacements, and regulatory closures.
Our staff has experience in obtaining permits
for special land uses, in making wetlands determinations,
and in conducting projects such as environmental impact statements
and airport master plans. Consulting services include emergency
response plan development, SPCC plans, site assessment and
characterizations services, and environmental agency coordination.
